Description
The former Church Cove lifeboat house, now a dwelling, was built in 1887. It features an inscription that reads: "Erected and presented to Royal National Lifeboat Institution in memory of T and H S Chavasse and Rev and M C Chavasse."
The building is constructed of rubble stone with granite quoins, lintels, and dressings, topped with a slate roof. It has a rectangular shape, oriented north-south, with double doors located in the north gable.
On the exterior, terracotta roundels are positioned beside the doors, and there is an inscription above them. A single narrow glazed light is found below the apex of the gable. The south gable includes a ground floor entrance door and a tall narrow window, with a single light without glazing bars to the right. Another narrow glazed light is located below the apex of this gable. The east elevation, which faces the sea, features three narrow lights with 20th-century casement windows that have glazing bars, along with two 20th-century horizontal windows directly beneath the eaves.
The interior was not inspected. This building is included for its group value with the cellars nearby.
