Description
Old Quay House Hotel is a hotel built in 1889, with the foundation stone laid by Mrs. A P Townsend of Chislehurst, Kent. The building is constructed of stucco and features a roof with a low-pitched central gable and consoles beneath the eaves and gable soffit. It has a deep plan and consists of three storeys. The front is symmetrical with three windows and includes a plinth, sill strings, and end pilasters that are rusticated to the first floor. The original horned sash windows display various designs of glazing bars. The second floor features round-arched windows with keyed moulded hoods, while the first floor has windows with moulded architraves, including a central window with an eared architrave and a segmental-arched hood. The ground floor has segmental-arched openings with moulded eared architraves and vermiculated top panels, flanking a central pilastered doorway that is topped with consoles and brackets supporting a moulded cornice of the hood. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
