Trewarveneth Farmhouse And Adjoining Barn

Trewarveneth Farmhouse and the adjoining barn, located in Newlyn, is a 17th-century farmhouse with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as early 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of stone rubble and features a scantle slate roof with gabled ends. It is two storeys high and has a range of three windows. The 19th-century sashes are set in earlier openings, with two on the first floor that have stone surrounds. The first-floor window in the east gable end consists of five lights with stone mullions and a drip mould, although two of the mullions were removed when a later window was inserted. There is a modern ground floor bay window and a glazed porch, along with chimney stacks at the gable ends.

To the southeast is a circa early 19th-century wing that has a half-hipped roof and a segmental bay window with sashes. This wing connects to a former barn that was converted into a studio around 1900 for the painter Alexander Stanhope Forbes, who lived at Trewarveneth from 1901 to 1904. Forbes was a founder member of the 'Newlyn School' and a Royal Academician, and Trewarveneth was previously a Manor House of the Manor of Trewarveneth.
