Description
The walls, piers, and gates at the south entrance to Penquite House date from the mid-19th century and are constructed from granite ashlar with cast iron gates. The structure includes two short sections of wall, each approximately 1.5 metres high, which curve outward to the right and left of the gateway. The gateway features square plan rusticated piers that stand about 2 metres high, topped with moulded caps and ball finials on stems. The pair of gates has paired mid-rails with ovals in between, and the top rail is ramped up towards the centre, with ball and spike finials on the stanchions. The walls are finished with moulded coping.
