Description
The Thatched House is a house that was once two cottages, dating from the 17th century with some remodelling in the 19th century. It has a rendered exterior with a thatched roof and brick gable end chimneys. The building has a single depth plan and stands two storeys tall, featuring a range of four windows. All windows have large lattice glazing bars that date from around 1840. There are two 19th-century plank front doors, each sheltered by slated canopies supported by brackets. On the ground floor, there are four windows of various sizes, each being two-light casements under slate drip ledges. The first floor has four windows: on the left, a three-light casement; next, a two-light casement; then, a wider two-light casement on the right; and finally, another similar window on the far right. A date of 1609 is scratched into the plaster above the left door. The interior has not been inspected. At one time, these cottages were used for servants at Pudners.
