Description

This is a family chest tomb dedicated to Abigail, the wife of Richard Thomas, located 17 metres south of the east end of the Church of St Symphorian. It dates from the late 18th century. The tomb features a brick base with a plain granite bordered lid and a granite headstone. It has a square shape and includes a cambered brick arch on the west side. The headstone is designed with a plinth and ovolo-moulding around the inscribed stone, which has a lintel that projects to form kneelers. Above this, there is a monolith coped pediment topped with an urn finial and a plain acroterion, with a square panel in the tympanum.
