Description
The fountain, dated 1904, is located adjacent to the right of Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Trehelder in Mawgan-in-Pydar. It is constructed of granite ashlar and features a wrought iron gate. The fountain is integrated into the inside rear wall and has a central opening with a 4-centred arch and a hood mould. Above this is a swept gable topped with a cross finial and a marble memorial tablet that includes a carved fish and the inscription: "This fountain was erected by Lady Campbell Clarke in memory of her sister 1904. Many waters cannot quench love." On either side of the central archway, there are stone basins set in niches within the wall, each with a hollow-chamfered 4-centred arch, and the wall above the basins has a cornice.
Inside, the central bay features a tiled floor and tiled internal walls, with a basin made of Devon limestone positioned at the rear and on the right side. The roof is ceiled, and there is a wrought iron gate across the central bay, crafted by Worrall of Liverpool.
