Description
Nancewrath Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around the 1840s, originally constructed for the Tinney family, who still live there. The building is made of shale rubble sourced from nearby, with granite sills and lintels. It features a hipped roof covered with grouted scantle slate, along with a brick chimney on the left side wall and another at the rear of the original hipped-roofed wing. The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan that has been later infilled to create a square layout. It now consists of two equal front rooms on either side of a central passage that leads to a central staircase, with the original kitchen located at the back of the left-hand room and a later 19th-century service room. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical southeast front with three windows, featuring original hornless 12-pane sash windows. The central doorway is round-headed and has original panelled internal shutters. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to be largely unaltered, making this a very complete house that has seen little change since the 19th century.
