Description

Wenmouth Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that was remodelled and extended around the mid-19th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed from slatestone rubble, partially rendered and partially slate-hung, with a hipped slate roof, ridge tiles, and brick-shafted stacks to the sides and rear. The building has a double-depth plan with principal rooms to the front right and left, each heated by a side stack. The main entrance is through a central gabled porch with a segmental-arched opening and a 6-panelled door. The front of the farmhouse is symmetrical with a 5-window arrangement. All windows are 16-pane sashes with timber lintels at the first floor and granite lintels at ground floor, except for a 4-pane sash on the left side. A rear service wing was added around the mid-19th century, extending to the left and right and forming a small rear courtyard that is partly infilled with lean-tos. The left rear wing has a hipped roof and includes a stack to the left. The rear main range has a hipped roof over the central bay, with a late 19th-century 3-light window and a 12-pane sash. The interior was not inspected. The rear of the left wing contains 20th-century windows.
