Description

STOKE CLIMSLAND STOKE ROAD SX 37 SE 8/192 Chimney, Holmbush Mine - (east group)

GV II

Chimney. Early to mid-C19. Roughly coursed slate stone with stepped capping to purple brick top. Circular section tapering to top. Formed part of Holmbush Mine, first referred to as a lead mine in C17, later extracting copper and tin. Working ceased in 1854 but the mine later reopened as part of Callington United Mines from 1888-1892.
