Description
The Air Ministry bombing teacher at RAF Davidstow Moor is a two-storey building with a 1½ storey annex on the east side and a single storey boiler house attached to the north wall, featuring a chimney stack that projects from the northwest corner of the main structure. The walls are constructed of brick in English bond and are covered with a cement render, maintaining their original height, although the shallow corrugated asbestos pitched roof has been lost. The west gable and south wall do not have any windows, while the east annex includes a single small window on the ground floor, and the east gable of the main building has one window on the top floor. The south elevation has a door accessed by a single concrete step leading to the ground floor, along with two windows on the first floor. The boiler room features a west-facing door and a single north-facing window, with small ventilation grills present in each wall.
Inside, the ground floor consists of a large open space that includes a projecting bomb aimers' balcony extending into the room from the eastern annex. A metal ladder provides access to the first floor from this balcony. The reinforced concrete first floor has a large, central, rectangular projection hole with a brick-built projector platform above it. Additional smaller holes in the floor would have accommodated cables and other components of the bomb teacher mechanism.
