Description
Bodithiel Bridge is a bridge over the River Fowey, historically referred to as Lergin Bridge by Leland in 1538. It was partly reconstructed around the mid-19th century. The bridge is made of rubble stone and was originally very narrow, featuring three small pointed arches. In the 19th century, it was widened, and the west side was rebuilt. The two southern arches were combined to create a single wide arch. The east side has a wide four-centred arch with cut stone voussoirs on the south and a narrower three-centred arch with cut stone voussoirs on the north. There is a rubble stone cutwater between these arches and a large stone inclined buttress to the right of the north arch. The west side features rough-cut stone voussoirs for a wide round arch on the south and a smaller round arch on the north. The parapet is made of rubblestone, splayed out over the abutments, with chamfered granite copings and iron fastenings.
