Description
Turnapenny is a small house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a 20th-century extension. The building features painted slatestone rubble and cob walls, wooden lintels, and slate sills. It has a corrugated asbestos roof that slopes slightly lower at the rear, with brick chimneys on the original gable ends. The chimney on the right side has a large external breast with a quadrant oven projection at the back.
The house has a two-room central stair plan, along with a one-room 20th-century addition on the left and another 20th-century room at the rear, creating an L-shape overall. It stands two storeys high and has a six-window southeast front, which includes the original symmetrical three-window front and the one-window 20th-century addition on the left. The original section features a central doorway with a 20th-century top-glazed door and a small 20th-century open gabled porch. All original windows are 16-pane hornless sashes. The left extension has a wide two-light casement with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors. The interior has not been inspected.
