2 adjoining houses. Circa 1800 and circa early C19. Painted rubble walls with some painted cob to rear. Leowartha, left, (south) has wooden lintels and corrugated asbestos roof and brick chimney over external rubble and cob to left (south) gable end. Woodland, right has shallow brick arches and scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over gable ends. Left-hand chimney is shared with Leowartha. Built end on to slope with Woodland later, at higher level. Each house has plan of 2 equal reception rooms flanking central passage leading to central stair. 2 storeys. Each house has nearly symmetrical 2-window fornt with central doorway. Leowartha, left, has original 6-panel door, 16-pane hornless sashes to ground floor and 20-pane hornless ashes to slightly wider first floor openings. Woodland, right, has original hornless sashes except for C20 12-pane replacement to ground floor right. Interiors not inspected but said to be little altered. Set in an unspoiled and beautiful valley overlooking Cowlands creek and part of a group of houses, mostly little altered since built in the C18 and early-mid C19.
