Description
There are two chest tombs located approximately 12 metres south of the south transept of St Hilary Church. These tombs date from the 18th century and are made of granite ashlar set on granite bases, originally featuring iron railings. Both tombs are rectangular in shape. The eastern chest has a moulded plinth and a square-edged lid, while the other chest has a chamfered plinth and a moulded lid. The lid of the eastern chest bears an incised inscription commemorating Honor, the wife of Francis Cole, who died in 1796. The inscription on the other chest is indecipherable but may refer to Francis Cole.
