Description
This is a group of six chest tombs located 12 meters north of the Church of Saint Corentin in Cury. The tombs date from 1795 to 1868 and are dedicated to the Hendy family. Each tomb features incised rectangular slate slabs resting on low stone chests.
From south to north, the tombs are as follows: No 1: Mary Ann Hendy, who died in 1826 at the age of 4 years; Samuel Hendy, who died on 15th March 1827 at the age of 4 months; and Samuel P Hendy, who died on 13th October 1828 at the age of 1 month. All were children of Gwills of this parish, and the epitaph is indecipherable. No 2: Joseph Hendy, who died in 1800 at the age of 48, and Samuel, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Hendy, who died in 1818 at the age of 20. No 3: William Hendy, who died in 1795 at the age of 89, and Catherine, the wife of John Rowe from the parish of Gunwalloe, who was his granddaughter and died in 1868 at the age of 73. No 4: The inscription is indecipherable. No 5: William Hendy, who died in 1794 at the age of 47, along with others. No 6: The widow of William Hendy, who died in 1795 at the age of 85.
