Description
This is a terrace of four houses located at 60 to 66 Falmouth Road, dating from the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of rubble, primarily slate, with large granite quoins and lintels, and the rear is rendered. They feature a grouted scantle slate roof with red clay ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end and central axial stacks that have redbrick shafts and yellow clay pots.
The terrace consists of two pairs of cottages, likely designed with a double depth plan, each having a main front room and a service room at the back. At the right-hand (northeast) end, there is a small pair of privies, which were probably added in the late 19th century.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical four-window front. The later 19th-century four-pane sash windows on the ground floor are boarded over, and the windows feature granite lintels and slate sills. There are two pairs of doorways, each with a large granite lintel; the doors for Nos 60 and 62 are panelled with moulded details, while Nos 64 and 66 have flush-panelled doors. The rear elevation is rendered and has only a few small first-floor windows, with no rear extensions.
At the right-hand (southeast) end, there is a small later 19th-century detached double privy made of stone rubble with brick dressings. It has a gable-ended slate roof with red clay ridge tiles, positioned at right angles to the front of the terrace. The interiors have not been inspected.
