Description

The building is a fire station, dating from circa 1900, and now used as a store. It is constructed of uncoursed killas rubble with granite dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building has a rectangular, two-and-a-half-unit plan and is a tall, single-storey structure. It features two tall wagon doorways with altered doors and deep five-pane overlights, and to the left of these is a narrower doorway of the same height, with a two-stage overlight in the upper half. A moulded cornice runs across the building, surmounted by a parapet with moulded coping. Above the doorway to the left is a stone plaque with raised lettering reading "FIRE STATION". A single-stage corner turret rises above the plaque, it is square in section with chamfered corners, and features a narrow ten-pane sash window to the front and smaller openings to the sides. The turret has a moulded cornice, a low parapet with moulded coping, and an octagonal siren with a pyramidal cap on its roof. A metal ventilator with a conical cap sits on the centre of the roof ridge.
