Description
The former stables, located approximately 15 meters south of the Queens Arms public house, are now used as a store. They likely date from the 18th century and were extended in the 19th century. The threshold of the doorway is dated 179-(AD?). The building is constructed of granite rubble with a dressed granite doorframe and features a corrugated iron roof with gable ends. The original building has a rectangular plan with a central doorway at the front and external stairs at the rear right leading up to the hay loft. In the 19th century, the gap between the stables and the adjacent cottage to the north was infilled with an extension that may have served as a cartshed.
The exterior is two stories tall. The original building on the right is symmetrical, featuring a central doorway with an unchamfered granite lintel and jambs, and a 20th-century plank door. There are small rectangular openings on the ground floor to the left and right, with what are likely 19th-century window frames. The first floor has a ventilation slit on the left and a window on the right that is now covered in ivy. The later addition to the left projects out and has a large 20th-century sliding door. The right gable end includes a loft window, and at the back, there is a flight of granite steps leading up to the loft doorway.
Inside, there is a cobbled granite floor with a drain, and the first floor and roof were replaced in the 20th century. The original part of the building has no internal partitions.
