Description

This is a disused drinking fountain located opposite number 6 Well Lane in Constantine. It was likely built in the mid to late 19th century. The fountain is made of granite and stands about 1 meter high. It features a round-headed design with a niche at the front, where a stopped pipe is positioned instead of a tap. A wrought iron bar spans the front of the niche.

This fountain is one of a series of six surviving drinking fountains that provided water to the village of Constantine, sourced from the top of the village. These fountains were installed to meet the needs of the growing population, which increased due to the success of the nearby Wheal Vyvyan tin mine.
