Description
Maders Farmhouse, located directly to the west of Maders Cabinet Works, is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a steeply pitched slate roof that features gable ends. The building has chimney stacks with brick shafts located in the left-hand gable end and to the left of the center. Although the interior has not been inspected, it appears to have a three-room and cross passage plan, with an axial stack at the inner end of the hall and a gable end stack heating the inner room. The lower end room seems to be unheated. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front. On the ground floor, there are mid and late 19th century two-light casements to the left of a panelled door, and a gabled open porch with a corrugated iron roof. To the right, there is a dairy window, and above, there is a late 19th century two-light casement to the left of center. The rear windows feature chamfered lintels. The interior has not been inspected.
