Description
The detached chimney at Trewavas Mine, dating from around 1840, served the beam engine house. It is constructed of granite rubble and is round in plan, consisting of a single stage. The chimney is located on the top of the cliff above the engine house at Old Shaft. Remains of the inclined flue that connected to the chimney can still be seen. Wheal Trewavas was a copper mine that operated from approximately 1834 to 1846. This chimney replaced the original chimney, of which the base can still be found halfway up the cliff near the engine house.
