Description
This is an early to mid-18th century stable situated about 20 metres south of Luney Barton Farmhouse. The stable is constructed of elvan stone rubble with granite dressings and quoins. It has a rag slate roof with crested ridge tiles and gable ends. The plan is rectangular, comprising a 5-bay front stable with a loft above. A single-storey stone shed with a slate roof and gable ends is attached to the front left side.
The stable’s front elevation is symmetrical, featuring a dressed granite plinth, granite quoins, and a band course. On the ground floor, there is a central doorway with granite voussoirs, and two windows with granite voussoirs to the right and left. Some of the windows retain three upper panes, likely originally sash windows. Five smaller window openings with granite voussoirs are located on the first floor. The attached single-storey range partially obstructs a ground floor window on the left side and previously contained door and window openings. The remainder of the stable was inaccessible at the time of inspection in August 1987. Luney Barton Farmhouse is not part of this listing.
