Description
The garden wall, shippon, and well house located north of Barn Park are likely from the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed from local rubble, with a single granite monolith at the front of the shippon and rag slate roofs, including a pyramidal roof for the well house and a lean-to roof against the garden wall for the shippon. The garden wall serves as a screen between the house and the farm buildings, and it also acts as a climbing surface for old pear trees that have been trained along it. The shippon is situated on the north side, while the well house is at the east end, with a water tank positioned high up on the wall to its west. The tall garden wall features a central doorway with a flat rubble arch. The shippon includes a wide central opening and an infilled opening on its left, with a pair of ledged doors on the right. The well house retains its original roof structure, has a slate-flagged floor, and still contains its original pump, which is fitted with a lead pipe and a shaped wrought-iron handle topped with a lead ball end. These structures are part of a planned group associated with Barn Park.
