Description

This is a terrace of five houses located on Hotwell Road in Bristol, built around 1820. The houses are rendered with limestone dressings and have tall brick party wall stacks and a pantile double-pile roof. They were originally designed with a double-depth plan.

The architectural style is Late Georgian, with each house arranged over three storeys and a basement, and featuring a single window range. The terrace is unified by a ground-floor string course and pilasters rising to a moulded coping. The right-hand doorways have semicircular arches, small brackets supporting open pediments, fanlights (with five panes on No.311 and a batswing design on No.317; the rest have plate glass), and six-panel doors, the upper four panels being raised. The windows are 8/8-pane sashes.

Inside, the entrance hall is divided by a semicircular arch leading to a dogleg staircase with stick balusters and column newels. The interior also features panelled shutters and six-panel doors.
