Description
No. 1 Great George Street is an attached house, now used as an office, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick with tuck pointing and limestone dressings, featuring a lateral stack, although the roof is not visible. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a mid-Georgian style. It stands three storeys high with a two-window range and is an extension of No. 47 Park Street, designed in the same style.
The two sections of the building are connected by a plat band and upper sill bands, with a cornice and parapet. The left-hand section has a ground-floor quoin strip, a central doorway with a Gibbs surround, a large key, and a pediment, along with a six-panel door. There are matching windows on either side of the door and a single window above. The right-hand section contains one window range and features a shallow projecting central pedimented upper section.
Inside, there is an entrance hall that leads to a left-hand dogleg stair with turned balusters.
