Description
Henbury War Memorial is a tall wheel-head cross built in the 1920s, standing in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. The memorial is constructed from Doulting limestone from Chelynch quarry, near Yeovil. It rises from an octagonal plinth which itself stands on a four-stepped octagonal base, raised on a circular step at the bottom. Each face of the plinth contains an inset panel with the names of the commemorated, while a square collar on the cross shaft displays the dates 1914-1918. An inscription runs around the plinth, incised above the name panels.
