Description

Numbers 5, 6, and 7 are a terrace of three houses, now used as offices, dating from the mid-18th century. They are constructed of limestone ashlar with brick party wall stacks and feature a hipped pantile roof on the left. The buildings have a double-depth plan and are designed in a mid-Georgian style, standing three storeys tall with an attic and basement, and arranged in a three-window range.

The terrace includes a stepped design with rusticated pilaster strips and a moulded coping, while the ground floor is rusticated with a plat band. The left-hand doorcases are adorned with Ionic pilasters and pediments, with segmental pediments for Nos 5 and 7. Nos 6 and 7 have moulded semicircular-arched doorways featuring keys, fanlights, and six-panel doors, while No. 5 has a flat-headed doorway with rusticated reveals. The windows on Nos 6 and 7 are segmental-headed with raised architraves, fitted with 6/6-pane sashes, while No. 5 has plate glass windows. Each house has two hipped dormers.

Inside, the entrance hall is separated from the front room by a panelled division and features a modillion cornice. There is a semicircular arch leading to a side dogleg stair with column-on-vase balusters, a moulded ramped rail, and panelled wainscot. The interiors also include six-panel doors, panelled shutters, and carved timber fireplaces.

The front areas of Nos 5 and 6 have raised basements with wrought-iron railings and urn finials. The terrace has a continuous cornice that connects with Nos 1, 3, and 4.
