Description
This is a house, built around 1820. It is constructed from limestone and Pennant ashlar, with gable stacks and a roof that is not visible. The building follows a double-depth plan and is in a Neoclassical style. It is two storeys high, with a three-window front. The symmetrical facade has a projecting central entrance bay, with pilasters to the recessed sides. The ground floor of the pilasters is rusticated, and the second floor is decorated with Greek key patterns. A plat band, cornice, and parapet top the building. Below the first-floor windows of the entrance bay is a panelled band. The doorway is semicircular-arched, with a three-panel fanlight above and a six-panel door. Small windows flank the door. The ground-floor windows have semicircular-arched recesses with radial flutings, plain windows above, and a semicircular-arched panel above the doorway. The windows are 8/8-pane sashes, with plate glass in the side windows of the entrance bay. There are rectangular sunken panels above the ground-floor cornice in the centre of the facade. The rear elevation is rendered and features a full-height, central three-window bow. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the side is a Pennant rubble wall, and in front is an ashlar wall with moulded coping, a large gate pier made from a single stone, and cast-iron spiked gates. This building demonstrates group value within its streetscape.
