Description

The Old School House is a school building dating from 1830, with alterations recorded in 1859, and converted to other use in 1992. It is constructed of Pennant rubble with limestone dressings, arranged in an L-shaped single-depth plan. The building has two storeys and a four-window front, with a two-window projecting wing to the right. It features relieving arches above the openings, with ashlar surrounds. A doorway is positioned to the right, and a ground-floor Venetian window is found in the gable of the wing. The right return displays pediment lintels above outer doorways, inscribed "BOYS" and "GIRLS" respectively. A triple semicircular-arched window sits between these doorways, dated 1851. The interior was completely rebuilt. At the time of review, the building was undergoing conversion, lacking doors, windows, and a roof. Originally, the building had a shallow slate hipped roof and sash windows with glazing bars.
