Description
Lodge Cottage to Brislington House is a lodge built around 1804. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with a brick stack and tiled roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, featuring a three-window range. The symmetrical gable front has barge-boards added around 1980 and a curved porch supported by two Tuscan columns, topped with a parapet on a step made of Pennant stone flags. The ground floor has single semicircular windows set in recesses, while the first floor features similar windows set above a moulded string. The rear windows have single projecting jambs. The interior has not been inspected. Originally called the Wheelhouse, this single-storey building had a glazed dome in the roof and housed the mechanism for operating the iron gates of the asylum.
