Description

Oakenhill Farmhouse is a 17th-century house located on Bonville Road in Brislington. The building is rendered and features brick stacks at the ridge and gable ends, topped with a pantiled roof that has a half-hipped design on the left side. It has a double-depth plan, a through passage, and a single-storey rear outshut. The farmhouse stands two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range. The entrance is situated in a full-height gabled stair block to the right of the center, which has a gableted finial base at the top of the coping and small 20th-century windows. The right side of the house is windowless, while the left features a ground-floor 6/6-pane sash window with a worn Pennant label. The right-hand gabled return has small casement windows on both the ground and first floors, which include horizontal bars and worn label moulds. The left gable displays a two-window range of 6/6-pane sashes in flush frames, along with a single 3/3-pane sash in the attic. Inside, there is a flagged through passage leading from the porch, with a winder stair located to the right of the doorway. This farmhouse is a rare example of Brislington's pre-industrial past.
