Description
No. 10 Victoria Street is a shop built around 1875. It features a limestone ashlar facade and has a double-depth plan with three storeys and a three-window range. The 20th-century shop fronts are situated between pilasters that have Romanesque capitals, and there is a dentil cornice above. A string course on the first floor includes palmette motifs, with a frieze, cornice, and parapet above. The first-floor windows have set-back jambs with small moulded corners and inscribed keys. The second-floor windows are separated by pilasters and have moulded imposts, with heads decorated in rocaille style. The name "PLATNAUER BROTHERS" is inscribed on the parapet. The building is part of a group of Victorian commercial structures that were developed after Victoria Street was created in 1872. The interior has not been inspected.
