Description
Nos. 4 and 6 Victoria Street is a shop built around 1875. It features red brick with yellow brick and limestone dressings, and has a double-depth plan. The building stands three storeys high and has a six-window range. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front, while above it is an arcade of narrow two-centred arches between the first and second floors, adorned with patterned brick voussoirs, hoods, and imposts, all above a moulded sill band. The first-floor windows are made of plate glass, and the second-floor windows have been bricked up. These are separated by a drip decorated with Tudor flowers and a panel of Greek key brickwork, with a parapet above. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a group of Victorian commercial structures that were developed after Victoria Street was created in 1872.
