Description
Number 7 is an attached house built around 1845 by Charles Underwood, located in Canynge Square, Clifton, Bristol. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with rendered sides, featuring gable stacks and a pantile roof. The house has a double-depth plan and is designed in a Neoclassical style, with three storeys and a basement, presenting a two-window range.
The façade is enhanced by wide pilaster strips that frame a frieze band. The left-hand section of the building is set forward and includes a well-crafted single-storey porch. This porch features pilasters at the corners, a doorway with a parapet adorned with fluted blocks, and incised voussoirs above a semicircular-arched doorway that is topped with a stained glass fanlight. The entrance consists of a two-leaf, six-panel door.
On the ground floor, the windows are framed by pilaster jambs and an entablature, topped with a pedimented panel, and contain 4/4-pane sashes. The first and second floors have sill bands and architraves for horned plate-glass sashes, with blind boxes included.
The property also features attached iron railings in front of the basement area. The interior has not been inspected.
