Description

This gateway, dating from the early to mid-18th century, is located at the northeast corner of the Old Library in Bristol, between Nos 30 and 31 on King Street. It is constructed of rendered material with limestone dressings. The gateway features a segmental-arched carriage entrance with banded dressings, set within a wall that has moulded coping. Above the gateway is an ogee gable topped with an acorn vase. There is also an impost band with side sections, one of which has a semicircular arch. The structure follows the line of the old City wall.
