Description

The Cenotaph is a war memorial located on Colston Avenue in Bristol, built in 1932. It is constructed from shelly limestone ashlar and features a rectangular slab with a plinth and a moulded top. At each end, there are consoles supporting a bundle of spears, and on top of the slab sits a sarcophagus. The memorial is adorned with a band of regimental medallions, with central plaques on each face and the City Arms on each side. Above the sarcophagus is a large wreath with a central sword. Each corner of the memorial is marked by plain square blocks.
