Description
Number 2 is a house located on Church Road in Sneyd Park, Bristol, built around 1870, possibly designed by Henry Shaw. It features red rubble with limestone dressings, brick stacks, and patterned tile roofs on both the gable and hip. The house is in the Gothic Revival style and has an irregular double-depth plan, consisting of two storeys and an attic, with three storeys at the rear and a four-window range.
A porch with a sloping roof is positioned between a large left-hand gable and a right-hand projection that includes a chimney breast with diagonally-set stacks. The porch door has eight panels and is flanked by slim windows. There are two- and three-light stair windows that rise diagonally up the gable, featuring varied trefoil and two-centred heads, mullions and transoms, along with leaded casements that include stained glass.
At the rear, there is a canted bay topped with a swept pyramidal roof and a large verandah supported by arch-braced posts. The house also has eaves dormers and decorative roof finials. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a garden terrace balustrade and steps that have terracotta balusters.
