Description

Stoke House Annex is a house that has been converted into a college, dated 1669, with some windows altered in the mid 19th century. The building is constructed of pennant rubble with limestone dressings, featuring diagonally-set ridge ashlar stacks and a slate cross-gabled roof. It has a double-depth plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and comprises a four-gable range. The steep gables are present on the front, sides, and back, with some gables adorned with square finials topped with pyramids. To the left of the center, there is a mid 19th-century four-centred doorway with a label mould and the Prince of Wales' feathers above it. The building also includes cross windows with label moulds, a seven-light transomed window on the left side of the ground floor with a four-centred arch in an ashlar surround, and rectangular panels with oval lights and labels in the gables. The interior was remodeled in the mid 20th century, and the roof is recent. The building is depicted in Kip's engraving of Stoke House.
