Description

This is a terrace of eight houses at 24-31 Meridian Place, Clifton, Bristol, built between 1850 and 1860. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with an unseen roof. They follow a double-depth plan and are in a late Georgian style. Each house has four storeys and a basement, with a single window to each side. The stepped terrace features pilaster strips extending to a frieze, cornice, and parapet, and a distinctive banded detail to the ground floor. The right-hand side of each house has a doorway. Number 24's doorway is on the left. The doorways are topped with console cornices and have plate-glass overlights above two-panel doors. The ground floor windows have recessed surrounds, while the first floor windows have architraves and console cornices. The second and third floors have recessed surrounds to the 6/6-pane sash windows. Number 31 has a two-storey porch set back at the end, with a semicircular-arched doorway on the right, and a timber tripartite window on the ground floor. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
