Description
Three attached houses of 1854, forming part of Arlington Villas in Clifton, Bristol. They are built of limestone ashlar to the front, with rendered sides, and have party wall stacks and a hipped roof covered in pantiles and slate. The houses are of double-depth plan, designed in an Italianate style, with three storeys, a basement, and an attic. They have a two-window range. The outer houses project forward, featuring clasping pilaster strips to a frieze of square panels and a cornice, along with an attic storey with a coped parapet and scrolled brackets to the coped party walls. The central houses have doorways with moulded architraves on the left; the outer houses have full-height entrance blocks with doorways incorporating overlights, all with six-panel doors. The middle ground floor features plain console cornices above two-over-two sashed windows with margin panes, and some plate-glass sashes. Cast-iron bracketed balconies are present on the central houses. Inside, a central dogleg staircase features stick balusters and a curtail, along with cornices and six-panel doors. These houses are one component of a larger group, matching those at Nos. 11-13 and 14-16.
