Institute. 1921. Snecked squared rubble with ashlar dressings and a tiled roof. Double-depth plan. 4 storey; 4-window range. Central gable with pilasters and lower flanking blocks. Ground-floor granite memorial plaque in a segmental arch with attached shafts either side, and a shield above; cross windows each side and a drip mould with floral stops above. Double doors in the side blocks with chamfered reveals and moulded segmental arches. Linked central first- and second-floor windows with chamfered mullions and transoms, with a blind window to the centre; 5-light mullion third-floor window and 2- and 3-light windows either side. INTERIOR: lateral stairs, meeting hall and offices. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: steps up to the front, and area wall with square piers. On a prominent site, having group value with Horfield Baptist Church (qv).
