Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of three houses located on Sydenham Road, Cotham, Bristol. The houses are built of limestone ashlar with lateral and party wall stacks, and have slate and concrete-tiled hipped roofs. They follow a double-depth plan and are in an Italianate style, arranged with a symmetrical seven-window range. The end houses project, and each has a side porch for its entrance. The ground floor is banded, supported by a plat band, and features pilasters with capitals on the first floor, topped by deep eaves supported by paired brackets. The entrance to No. 20 has consoles supporting a canopy, an overlight, and a six-panel door. The windows are sash with margin bars, and have consoles to their cornices on the first floor. A statuary niche is positioned in the centre of the facade. The interior of No. 20 includes an entrance hall with a lateral dogleg staircase featuring a curtail, six-panel doors, and panelled shutters.
