Description

Numbers 6 and 7 Grove Road are a pair of late 18th-century houses, one of which is now an office, built as a terrace with a shared brick party wall and brick stacks. The houses are constructed of brick and stucco, with limestone dressings and a pantile hipped roof. They are arranged over three storeys, with a basement and attic, and each has a two-window front. A moulded parapet coping tops the facade, with pilasters marking the divisions. The left-hand doorways are topped by brackets supporting a pediment, featuring a three-pane fanlight above a six-panel door. The windows are sash windows with cambered heads consisting of five stepped voussoirs, the ground floor windows containing six panes, while those on the second floor have three. Number 7 has been altered with a late 19th-century shop front, including fascia consoles, a central door, and thin stanchions. Inside Number 7, a dogleg staircase is set against the party wall, with stick balusters and column newels. A decorative cornice with triglyphs is present in the rear room, alongside six-panel doors and panelled shutters. Attached to the front are wrought-iron area railings featuring spearheads and urn finials.
