Description
The Mandolyn Public House is a public house that likely dates back to the late 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar, with the ground floor rendered and painted, and the upper floor painted. The building has a triple Roman tile roof and features a double depth central entrance plan, although it has a single span roof and a wing with a coach house on the left side.
The exterior is two storeys high with an attic and has two windows. The ground floor includes fixed bar windows with two lights over one central panelled door, which has a rectangular light above it. There is a painted plinth and a painted platband at the window head. On the first floor, there are two two-over-two sash windows flanking a hanging Inn sign. The building has a mansard roof that is hipped to the right and gabled to the left, with three dormers featuring two-over-two sashes. There is a ridge stack to the left and a transverse stack to the right, along with an additional bay to the left. The coach house doors are located below, with a small modern window to the right and an eight-over-eight sash window above. The roof above the coach house is half hipped. The rear elevation has not been seen.
Inside, the ground floor does not retain any features of special interest. This public house was formerly known as the Pulteney Arms.
