Description

The houses at 69 and 71 Newbridge Hill date from the mid-18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-to-late 19th century. Originally built as separate properties, they are closely contemporary and share a straight joint between them. They are constructed of coursed rubble, likely once rendered, with a Welsh slate roof. Number 69 is a two-story house with an attic, featuring a single window on its front elevation, while Number 71 is a two-story house with three windows. All windows are plain sashes set within rendered architraves. Each house has a six-panel door, the top two panels glazed, and a small, flat hood supported by brackets. Number 69 has a slightly higher roofline with coped verges. A shared ashlar stack with weathering is visible, along with an additional stack at the right-hand end of Number 71’s ridge. There is a plain sash window in the gable end of Number 69’s attic. A small two-story coach house was added to the right of Number 71, projecting forward, with coach house doors opening onto the street above which is a plain sash window. Another window faces along the front of the main house. The coach house has a monopitch roof. The rear elevation is not visible. The interiors of the properties have not been inspected.
