Description
Bellevue is a house dating from the early 17th century, which has been altered and extended in the early 20th century. It is built of rubble with a plain tiled roof and has an L-shaped plan, featuring an earlier wing to the north. The house is two storeys high.
The south front has three bays plus one bay from the 20th-century extension on the left. The outer bays have two-storey canted bay windows, one topped with a gable. The windows consist of casements and cross windows, and there is a verandah across the entire ground floor with a central glazed door.
On the east elevation, there is a central gabled section with a four-light casement window on the ground floor, set in ovolo moulded surrounds with mullions, and beneath a drip mould and relieving arch. The first floor features a three-light casement with moulded mullions. The stonework has been rebuilt for one bay to the right, where there is a plank door under a 20th-century porch.
Inside, the kitchen at the rear has chamfered beams with broached stops, while the dining room features a chamfered and framed ceiling. The rear staircase showcases decorative wall painting on the string and enclosing walls, displaying a swirling leaf motif on plaster and wood, along with bulbous balusters in the upper part. The building is included primarily for its older rear section and its internal features.
