Description

Cottle’s Farmhouse is a mid-to-late 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed rubble with a pantile roof and brick-and-rubble stacks. It has two storeys and garrets, featuring four 2- and 3-light casement windows. Two of the windows are positioned under segmental brick arches on the right side of the house, and one window is located under an ovolo-moulded lintel at the top left. A central 20th-century door and porch have been added. A rear wing contains a bakehouse and cheese loft. Inside, you'll find chamfered beams with stepped and run-out stops. An ovolo-moulded lintel frames the fireplace in the ground floor room on the right side. The first floor contains two plank doors with strap hinges and open scroll ends, set within ovolo-moulded surrounds.
