Description
This is a row of eight terraced houses located at right angles to the street. The buildings date from the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed from limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs, although the roofs are largely hidden. The houses are narrow and double-depth, with doors on the left side. Each house has a single window on the front elevation, featuring six-over-six sash windows. The front doors have transom lights above and six panels below. The ground floor is rusticated, with a platband running along the first floor. The building has a cornice and parapet, with low mansard roofs that are only partially visible, except for Nos. 1 and 8. No. 8 has an added attic with a six-over-six sash window. No. 1 has two six-over-six sashes on its front, along with additional three-over-six sashes in an added rear wing. A modern door on the ground floor indicates a rebuilding, and possibly the removal of a shopfront. A mansard-shaped gable is visible above this door. A tented verandah with a lead roof was added to the garden front around 1990. The rear elevation is not visible. The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace demonstrates a modest example of Regency architecture, exhibiting the grand and symmetrical appearance often seen in larger urban developments.
