Description

This is a terrace of houses dating from the early to mid 18th century. The houses are located on Entry Hill. The construction is of coursed squared limestone rubble, with pantiled roofs to numbers 64 to 68. The roofs of numbers 70 and 72 are not visible from the street. The layout is a T-shaped terrace, with numbers 64 to 68 forming one leg of the ‘T’. Numbers 64 to 68 are double-depth plan, featuring an entrance on the left, while numbers 70 and 72 have a single-depth plan.

Numbers 64 to 68 are two bays wide, except number 64, which has only one window on the upper floor. The windows are replacements. Numbers 64 and 66 have plastic windows with top-opening lights. Number 68 has replacement eight/eight-pane sashes, with a four/four-pane sash above the porch. The front doors are replacement ‘Kentucky’ style doors, each with a flat hood supported by brackets, and a small porch for numbers 64 and 66. Number 68 has a plain parapet, while numbers 64 and 66 have a parapet string. An ashlar stack is located to the left of number 68. Numbers 70 and 72 each have three windows facing the street and an additional window on the end elevation. These windows are replacements, including some casements and plain sashes. Each house has a small ashlar porch with side windows and a cornice. These properties are topped with a castellated ashlar parapet, concealing the roof. The rear elevation of numbers 64 to 68 is not visible, while the rear elevation of numbers 70 and 72 is blank and also has a castellated parapet. The interiors have not been inspected.
